Mr. Matthew Shayefar is an associate at Boston Law Group. Mr. Shayefar is a graduate cum laude of Boston University’s School of Law, where he received a concentration in Intellectual Property with honors and was an editor of the Boston University Law Review.


Prior to attending law school, Mr. Shayefar received a Masters in Science in Computer Science, a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.


Mr. Shayefar practices in the broad field of general corporate and business law, helping clients in both transactional and litigation matters. He also specializes in Internet law and Intellectual Property matters, including representing “tube” and cyber-locker websites in copyright and trademark infringement lawsuits around the country.


Mr. Shayefar is admitted to the Massachusetts bar, the California bar, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Central California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

  2. Flava Works, Inc. v. John Doe 1 to 26 et al, Case No. 1:2012-cv-05844 (N.D. Ill.) (Successfully fought back attempted faulty service on foreign cyberlocker Oron, leading to dismissal of copyright infringement action).
  3. Calista Enterprises Ltd. v. Tenza Trading Ltd., Case No. 3:2013-cv-01045 (D. Oregon) (Defending tube site operator in trademark infringement action over an allegedly generic and descriptive trademark).
  4. ExitExchange Corp. v. Lemuria Communications, Inc. and WZ Communications, Inc., Case Nos. 2:2013-cv-00399 and 00403 (E.D. Tex.) (Defending two internet hosting providers in patent suit arising from a patent covering internet browser “pop-unders”).

(Defended cyberlocker Oron in copyright infringement action; briefed Ninth Circuit on interlocutory appeal regarding trial court’s finding of personal jurisdiction on Hong Kong based Oron and preliminary injunction freezing Oron’s assets).
